“Everyone is broken by life” – Ernest Hemingway
…but they don’t have to be.
Over 50% of our children have experienced at least one traumatic experience by the age of 18 in the United States according to the CDC (2017).
What is trauma and how many of YOUR students are showing up to school with a traumatic experience hiding in their deep brain, and how is that showing up
in the classroom? In the lunchroom? In the hallways of your building?
School is the most significant secondary agent of socialization and educators have a direct influence on the health and well-being of their students. For these reasons, we have a responsibility to understand the whole child.
By being “trauma informed”, your staff will “show up” better for their teen students and will be more equipped to identify behavior shape the future of the next generation in a more positive way, it will give your students’ parents more confidence when they know you are taking care of their children.
Using her unique lens as a seasoned high school educator turned therapist, Charle will ignite the passion you once had in this profession. Our teens ARE worth it! You will leave this presentation with meaningful strategies and ways to connect with your students on a level you may have never experienced before.
“Here I talk with Eva Olssen, Survivor of Auschwitz, about the power of one. By educating school staff to use a trauma-informed lens, we can alter the entire life path of the children we teach.”
